Critical Role's new world is apparently called Araman, as teased by a new Augmented Reality Game (ARG) created by the Actual Play franchise is to believed. Last week, Critical Role released a cryptic image on their newsletter featuring a block of seemingly random letters. Fans of the series were directed to the Beacon streaming site's platform, where they could enter commands that pumped out seemingly random lines of prose. Eventually, that led to a password protected page on Critical Role's website, which is unlocked with the word "ARAMAN" (discovered via someone checking Brennan Lee Mulligan's Pinterest page). That unlocks a small audio clip of Mulligan discussing the backstory of a world called Araman.

"Within the world of Araman, there exists a growing darkness in the shadow of revolution," Mulligan says in the audio clip. "Seventy years ago, when the Shapers cut down those seven Lords of Creation that saw fit to cast their children into shadow and ruin forever."

The page also hints that more information will be revealed on August 21st at 10 AM PT.

Mulligan will serve as the GM for Campaign 4, a full-length campaign. Matt Mercer, the traditional GM of Critical Role, will remain involved as a player character. The world of Exandria, the site of the first three campaigns, is "taking a breather" for the time being.

Full reveal has been made now, it’s a West Marches style campaign with three sub-groups, using 2024 D&D
Huh. Not what I would have expected but, as expected, this is going to be interesting. Looking forward to watching Brennan run a West Marches game, which I don't think I've ever heard him even mention as a playstyle.
