I'm not seeing it, even in the broadest sense. I'm not saying it's good, I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying that it takes a lot more to me than a character generator and a virtual tabletop to make a MMORPG.

Man, I really wish they'd release some new screenshots. I want to see some more examples of the kinds of characters you can make. Less of Gwill would be nice, anyway. I really hate that guys leg armor.

I know, the 5th role must be CHAOTIC NEUTRAL, because no game is complete without a truly evil character that rationalizes his wanton cruelty as capriciousness.

But "hybrid" isn't a role, it's a combination of two (at least) other roles. So it would have to be:

Defender/Leader hybrid
Defender/Striker hybrid
Defender/Controller hybrid
Leader/Striker hybrid
Leader/Controller hybrid
Striker/Controller hybrid

I think we're past 5 already. I think it's more likely, based on the rest of the article, that it was simply a mistake on the part of the author.

Well, that was the intent of my post... to preempt the speculation via mockery.

Alternatively, Summoner/NEcromancer/etc might be a distinct role. I'm not sure how either of those would fit into one of the current role boxes.

The article was part of a press tour and we did not pay them to write this (that is called advertorial and very few media outlets engage in that practice for the obvious reasons).

We met with them and provided and interview and they did the rest. I was not there for this one but I suspect the fifth role comment was a misunderstanding.

The 5th role is the DM.
