Gaming music

Midnight Syndicate CD's are great...... There are 4 different ones for different genres. Think the website is www.midnightsyndicate.com, but im not sure.

There is a song called Haunted Nursery on one of them that is extremely sickening, if it had a baby crying and then ended abruptly at the very end of the song, it would be outlawed in most states. This song is perfect for any campaign that involves little kid types as the bad guy.

Why is it that evil little kids are scarier than most monsters?

Whoa... serious deja vu... I just saw this thread a couple of days ago.

I like video game and anime soundtracks. Final Fantasy, Record of Lodoss War, Escaflowne, Xenogears, Chrono Trigger/Cross are all wonderful. Also, as noted above, you can't go wrong with a lot of film soundtracks such as Conan, Braveheart, Cutthroat Island, Waterworld, First Knight, and of course the LotR soundtracks.

All the ones I mentioned above pretty much have 100% useable tracks for gaming. No wasted money whatsoever.

I use belly dancing music for my Near East campaign.

What would be good for roman-greek settings? A Ben Hur soundtrack maybe?

Behold, my first post. :)

Our DM uses the Conan and LotR soundtracks. He also plays the soundtracks from the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale computer games.

The disc that gets the most play, though, is the "soundtrack" for our adventuring company that he made, with themes for each character and pieces that symbolize important events in our campaign. He used the above mentioned soundtracks for that, as well as some pieces from Lewis & Clark and Civil War movies (L&C music is great for rangers!).

As our campaign has been ongoing for nearly 3 years, part II of the soundtrack is in the works...

I use the following depending on what mood I want. I don't really worry too much about the music matching the particular situation at any given moment, as I keep music firmly in the background.
  • Both Lord of the Rings soundtracks
  • Gladiator
  • Signs
  • Bram Stoker's Dracula
  • Braveheart
  • Minority Report
  • Patriot Games

I copied the music from the games Neverwinter Nights and Warcraft 3 and burned them onto CD.

Sweet.

Of course, NOTHING beats hearing the Anvil of Crom.

Deadcandance, an Australian lady Lisa Gerrad and an Irish guy Brendan Perry who write and perform a lot of their own music which sometimes borrows heavily from Indian, Irish celtic, Arabic, English folk music and other strange sources in its composition.
You'll probably find that they also wrote/where a part of some of the musical scores on some of the soundtracks you people mentioned.

Another of the other musicians I've loved listening to for some time now is Loreena McKennitt who has a similar style to the Deadcandance music. As above, you will probably have heard her before on some of the musical scores and compilations, both are well worth looking up.

I make different CDs for different events with assorted music put together from different soundtracks.

I got a Battle CD, Tavern CD, Travelling CD, Haunting CD, and Desert Theme CD so far.
