Gaming Situation - What would you do?

First Post
We recently started a Kalamar campaign that started off in the city of Geanavue in the land of Renaaria. Our group of all humans has 4 Renaarians in our group and 2 visiting Fhokki. We were trying to go "by the book" in this Kalamar campaign, so we rolled up our PCs off of the height charts in the Kalamar Player's Guide. So, our Renaarese male PCs are all from 4'10" to 5'3" or so, as they are a short people distantly related to elves. Meanwhile, the two Fhokki got some big rolls on their charts. One is a 6'10" 316 pound human barbarian/ranger type, while the other is also human and a 7'0" 260 pound pure barbarian. Both have 18 Strengths. Both are Chaotic/Good in alignment. The ranger follows the typical ranger huntress/goddess. The barbarian follows a god called the Battle Rager. So, a good opportunity for some "fish out of water" scenarios, no?

Here is the situation. The group arrived in Geanavue the day before some big holiday. The next day, in the open air market where some celebrations were being held, we were walking around socializing and my Loonan rogue went off to try and pick a pocket or two (and had amazing success). Meanwhile, the two huge Fhokki men were wandering about with the group bard. The DM asks the 6'10" 316 barbarian/ranger type (who had adopted an Ahnold-like Austrian accent for his PC) to roll a spot check, and he gets a natural "20" and easily notices a young 8 year old girl snatching the money pouch off of his belt. Remember now, this is Renaaria, land of the Lilliputians to this huge Fhokki mass of corded muscle (18 STR & CON)

What would you do in this situaton if you were playing the massive Fhokki? I'll tell you what happened in game after and see if you think it is as funny as we did the other night...

Pick her up. I don't know anything about the law in that area of your campaign world (yeah, I know its published but don't own any of the books), and I would either

Take the girl to the authorities if its a good aligned area
Take the money back from the girl and let her go otherwise

As CG, I'd want my money back, not kill the girl or harm her. And if the authorities would be liniant with a child, I'd want her to learn a leason.

I would have grabbed her shirt/cloak and bent my massive body over hers, getting my giant, dirty face, stinky breath and all, and asked for my money back. Then told her if I see her again I am going to tie her behind my horse dragging her across the ground and ride until I had rubbed all of her skin off. She will wish I turned her in. I would then push her away and tell her to get lost.

Well, in one of the world’s worst examples of role-playing, his character shouted out, “Help, guard, she grabbed my pouch!” The DM asked him more than a few times if he was sure that was really what he wanted to say, to which he nodded his head. So, when he finally confirmed that it what he really wanted to say, he just all rolled over in laughter at the image of a 6’10” 316 behemoth scared to run after an 8 year old girl and calling for the guard. Not to mention to Freudian slip double entendre of a young girl grabbing for his pouch. He finally admitted later that maybe he had screwed up… Conan crying like an old woman saying she’s fallen and can’t get up!

k -- I was about to ask about the escape velocity of an 8 year old girl in Kalamar, but I liked the pouch reference.

My main question -- Is the DM going to make this into a plot element? Anything from a pitiful girl who needs the help of good people, to an angry clan upset that she was thrown to unmerciful guards.

Well, there were a lot of questions about that PC's masculinity - both in and out of game. And, I'm sure that the DM will use the young girl as a plot element. The DM is playing the city as a strict, lawful one, while most of the party is Chaotic Good, I believe... (I think we'll eventually evolve into a Robin Hood type group of swashbuckling adventurers, at least I hope...)

The guard captured the girl and started beating her, as she was recognized as having picked pockets before. She had had a finger chopped off for her crimes before...

So, the guards announced that they were going to take the little girl off to be executed. One of the guys in the group took it upon himself to get the girl back... so, he jumped the guards a few streets over and surprised them, knocking one out, but accidentally killing the other with a huge roll...

(my thief was on the other side of the square and used the distraction and lack of guards to swipe a fat purse...)

So, I'm sure that will come up in game again :=)
