Gargamel vs. the Smurfs

In one campaign I was in, long before anyone heard of Drizzt Do'Urden, a woman played a neutral female drow priestess of an earth deity. Out of character, we had several jokes that the character was actually a smurf, and other silliness.

Hey wait a second. Since Gargamel made Smurfette, why didn't he just make enough Smurfettes to use in his "Smurf to gold" formula? (I am wayyyy overthinking this)

Also, didn't they add, late in the series, a Grandpa and Grandma smurf? I can't imagine the origins of the latter.

I can't believe I know the answer to this.

When Gargamel made Smurfette she had black hair and was evil. she was going to lead Gargmel to the village. Instead the smurfs were so nice to her she betrayed Gargmel and Papa Smurf turned her into a real smurf.

3 kid smurfs made Sasset cause Smurfette was the only girl. She to was evil at first bu changed. She was small cause the little smurf couldn't carry all the ingredients at once to make a normal size smurf.

And it took 6 smurfs to make gold. Gargamel tried it with 3 but it didn't work.

I will go hide now. Is this why I was put on this planet to answer Smurf questions.

Also don't forget about Pee Wee and Yohann

What's the link between smurfs and svirfs(neblin)? The names are too similar to be a coincidence. Except that the smurfs are actually "le schtroumpfs".

The next question: If you turned a grig into gold and melted it down, how much gold would you have, and how much would it be worth?
According to the MM (well, SRD), a grig weighs about 1 lb. Assuming they have about the same density as humans (about 1), a grig made out of gold would weigh about 20 lbs. Since 1 lb of gold is worth 50 gp, one grig's worth of gold would be worth about 1,000 gp.

Thanks. That certainly explains why the Wizard of Green Mountain (whatever his name ends up being) hunts them.

:uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:

OMFG...

My brain just caved in at the awesome accuracy of that statement.

Now there's a reason for Gnomes to exist, after all.

Fairygold
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Touch
Target: Tiny or smaller fey touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

The subject, along with all its carried gear, turns into a mindless, inert statue made of solid gold. If the statue resulting from this spell is broken or damaged, the subject (if ever returned to its original state) has similar damage or deformities. The creature is not dead, but it does not seem to be alive either when viewed with spells such as deathwatch. Only fey made of flesh are affected by this spell.

A tiny fey turned into solid gold is worth approximately 1,000 gp after being melted down.

There is a one in six chance the affected fey is turned into chocolate instead of gold.

Focus: A wand made from the branch of a tree struck by lightning but which still blossomed with new leaves and flowers the following spring.

Niiiiice. I've seen you talking about Midwood on Monte's forums, and I've enjoyed the write-ups.

Hackmaster has something a bit similar, where the grunge elves (something like wild elves) have an annual event called 'The Running' where they hunt pixie-fairies and have a fiesta grande on their meat. Pixie-fairies being inherently very magical, the feast grants them permanent bonus levels or instrinsic magical abilities.

Probably too gruesome for your taste, but I thought I'd toss it into the discussion anyway.

I don't know whether to be amused or horrified at this thread....
Then be sure not to check out the game "Fairy Meat". It's all the worst parts of this thread rolled into a vicious miniature wargame.
