Garthan: The Destroyer of Light

I found this name on a Tom and Jerry Movie, and well this is what I thought of.

He introduced himself as Garthan the destroyer of light, whose car was powered by the screaming of a thousand tortured souls.

I want to make a character (Evil of course) that would be worthy of the name Garthan: The Destroyer of Light whose power comes from one thousand tortured souls. (or whose sword are powered by a thousand tortured souls depending on the take.) The problem is I don't know how to go what classes or ideas to use.
