Little question on Gem Magic from Magic of Faerun.
How have people been handling the triggering for that? I've been fairly strict on interpreting 'observable physical characteristics', so a gem of featherfall designed to activate after someone falls more than 10 feet won't work, since the person with the gem looks the same falling 10 feet, 40 feet, or 100 feet.
But how about a healing gem designed to work when someone it reduced to negative hitpoints, ie knocked unconscious? Eyes closed and unmoving is a bit of a problem since that's also sleeping. Falling down after being hit would also trigger if bowled over by a bullrush. So how might that type of gem work?
Lastly, I know in some item creation two spellslingers can work together, one using the feat to create the item, the other providing the spell needed, does that work for -all- item creation feats?
Thanks.
