GEN CON being sold?

i wouldn't mind it being out here on the east coast. preferably in the nyc metro area though

The problem with NYC is the costs are too high. If you look at major medical conferences they are never in NYC. I always thought Chicago did a great job with the Comicon. Having never been to Gen Con I would guess they have a similar draw.

I sincerely hope that WotC is not getting back into the Con. Putting something that's so important under the indirect control of their parent company does not seem wise.

If I worked at Hasbro, the first question I'd ask WotC about Gen Con is why it's worthwhile to spend any money on a show that showcases our competition, for instance.

I have nothing but respect for Scott et al, but I know they don't get to call all the shots. If they did I am sure we'd have a GSL by now.

So color me interested in these developments, but hopeful it's not WotC.

I hope not. Louisville has a couple of problems. Its downtown doesn't have a large enough convention center but has the hotel rooms. The big convention center is south of town but doesn't have eough hotel rooms close by (and none really close).

Aww c'mon, this is KY we're talking about. We could just fill the State Fairgrounds/Expo Center parking lot with mobile homes an rent 'em out!
Instead of the Embassy Suites, you could be staying in a "Double Wide" packed with gamers!

OK, maybe that wouldn't be as awesome as it sounded at first. But, I would get to commute to the Con and spend all my room money on games. Doesn't that make it sound like a great idea?

:)

I severely hope, without any sort of real chance, that we get it here in New York City. Jesus we need a good convention. It's not like we don't have tons of great hotels, an incredible convention center (the Javitz), and are the capital of the world ;).

Seriously though. NYC? Think about it. :D
