GENCON 2008 - Who's Going?

You bring your own dice. In fact, everyone at the table will be evaluating your masculinity on the size of your dicebag.

Will my femininity also be judged by my dicebag? I hope so. My dice are more impressive than my other attributes, IYKWIM.

I went for the first time last year, and had a grand time. This year, I hope to go again, and there are things I definitely plan on doing differently.

Sign up ahead of time. (missed the deadline last year, and everything was full.)
Get into some en world games
Run a game

Mostly just manage my gaming schedule better. I was only able to get into two games last year, and both bombed. The first promised a story heavy session of D&D (no mention of edition, which my friend and I took to mean that it was 3.5, based on the way the catalog was arranged). It turned out to be 1st edition, which neither of us had played before, and a boring string of risk-free, no-story arena fights run by a DM who didn't know the rules. The second game we scooted into just under the deadline, but the DM called it anyway so he could go home and we didn't get to play at all.

See, I stuck pretty much exclusively to EN/CM games last year - I played in nine or ten games, and they ranged from excellent to stupendous :D

Heh. Don't know if you remember or not, but we were playing in Belen's post-apoc game last GenCon.

I remember the game. Much fun. Everything is better with cannibals. Except maybe barbeques :)

Very cool, is there anything to do for young children (elementary school age)?

Mayfair has been very generous in sponsoring a "Training Grounds" room every year that as a lot of age appropriate games and activities. In addition, some SPA workshops were allowing children that age; I specifically remember for instance that the Irish Step Dancing class has several younger children in it; and was taught by enworld's own Denise and her talented children. :)

But think about how much fun you had! Think about how much fun you WILL have! Think about how we miss you. *sniff* How can you think of yourself at a time like this, Hyp? Come to GenCon!

Gaaaames... Frieeends.... Braaaiiiinnsss...

I will not be going. It was sort of an odd feeling when I let my VIG discount pass me by. Several of my friends will not be going in 2008 and with the new release of 4E, the potentially crowded space because of the destruction / construction of the old stadium into useable convention space and general apathy with the 2007 VIG program I decided not to go.
