Event submission begins on Jan 14th. (Edit - Submission Delayed - Begins January 21st: see here) Who is going this year? Who is running events? What do you hope to play? Are there any rumors yet on special events or guest celebrities?

I am looking forward to the convention this year and hope it does better than ever!

Me and Mark (and probably James) will be there, Mark. I'm running something, but I haven't decided between 3.5 or M&M.

I'll be flying on on Wednesday afternoon or evening, and leaving on Monday morning or afternoon.

me and my friends are in a badway this year...I am unemployeed and have been since last gen con...my friend I go with every year has been cut to part time...and my third friend has had his vacation time cut...and he can't skip the trip to paris with his fiances...ok well he could skip it...but then he would be having a bad year too...

so it doesn't look good for me to make it this year...

I'm pretty sure I'm going this year, barring any catastrophe. I already made it halfway to my savings goal this last paycheck (I started squirreling away right after Gen Con 2008), so I can use cash for everything instead of credit cards, and not feel guilty about spending so much.

In fact, I'm doing so much better than I thought saving money (didn't think I'd reach my goal until June or July), that I'm finally using the extra money to put away as an emergency fund like the experts always tell you to do but you never do. So see, another reason why gaming is good for you; it teaches financial responsibility and long range planning! This is the year to get rid of our family credit card debt; I'm always worried that my state job might start laying people off if the economy keeps going in a tailspin.

Me and the rest of the FDG crew will be there. I'm toying with the idea of running an OD&D game using Swaord & Wizardry for Wednesday gaming put on by the Kentucky Fried Gamers (that is if Noffham doesnt't do it- I'd much rather play...)

I'm likely not going this year. Minis hall (and DDM) was my "home base" and even though I only did a few events there last year while enjoying so many other activities, I'm just not sure it's worth the trip any more. I like to only schedule a couple of things, big and small, then be able to just step in to things but the RPGA stuff (which would be my biggest draw now) is scheduled to within an inch of its life and early.

My wife and I have a campaign larp, Pennsic War, and Gen Con we were all considering for this summer. But, they are all in August. We can, at best, pick two. I don't know what two they'll be...

I'm planning to run at least 96 player-hours worth of stuff, including:
- 4E adventures using the new classes from Forgotten Heroes: Death's Champions, which I imagine will be out by then
- Some late-night Tower of Gygax if it happens again this year, or a similar old-school deathtrap in the wee hours if not; that was a ton of fun!
- a White Box OD&D / Swords & Wizardry homebrew; I'd be happy to do that on Wednesday, and would be delighted to have you as a player, Tom.
