Gencon 2009 Indy

Well, I booked the time off work so I can go. And the girlfriend is fine with me going, as it's right after her sister's wedding (and all the attendant craziness I have to put up with). So, I'll have time in Indy!

Things I'm hoping to accomplish:

1) Play in an Earthdawn Game.
2) Play in a 4e Game.
3) Run... something.
4) Buy the remaining books I need for my Dark Sun and Jakandor collections. And as many futuristic minis as I can get my hands on.
5) ...Battletech!

So, yeah, that`s my goal for the time in Gen Con. And, once things begin to solidify, I`ll hopefully be able to volunteer for some stuff.

Paizo will be there, and it looks like this year's Gen Con will be our biggest show ever!

Here's a list of new products we expect to have at the show:

Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook
Pathfinder Bestiary Hardcover
Pathfinder Adventure Path: Council of Thieves (1 of 6)
Pathfinder RPG Module B1: Crypt of the Everflame
Pathfinder Chronicles: Princes of Darkness (Book of the Damned, Vol. 1)

We'll also have a half-dozen new Pathfinder Society scenarios on hand, as well as special events, a dungeon delve at the booth, tons of seminars, and perhaps even a few surprises beyond that!

I am so excited by the good news coming out of Gen Con, LLC. these days, and am delighted that the show will continue to be in good hands this year!

I was there last year, with a copy of the beta in hand when I found out the computers were down. I came back the next day and you guys were sold out. I just want to let you know that if you have issues again this year, I'm standing in line!
You guys are awesome!

My friends and I are definitely going. It will be our first time at any Con whatsoever.

Also, it will be one of my friend's 21st birthday.

Just as some advice, can anyone tell me the wildest bar in Indianapolis?

I was really looking forward to going this year, but it looks like it may not happen.
One of the people I was planing on going with just told me he wasn't going this year. I also just found out my nephew is getting married in Mexico in September. Family trumps Gen Con.

Here's something new -

Gencon Email Announcement said:
This is also posted online here -

GM Email: Event Submission delayed until Jan 21 -

This is a big announcement. More details will be announced in the coming
weeks but I wanted to let GMs and event organizers know that an
opportunity came up on very short notice and we are seizing the chance
to improve and develop our tools to address some long-standing concerns
we have all had.

The most immediate effect this will have is that event submission has
been pushed back by a week. Once it does begin, the process will be very
similar to how it has worked in the past, but the form will be slightly
different.

Event Submission Delayed - Begins January 21st

Event submission begins early this year, but the opening date has been
pushed back slightly as we work on finishing a new system and some
last-minute features: event submission for Gen Con Indy 2009 will begin
at noon Pacific time on January 21st, 2009.

Events will be submitted using a new online form (though it will be very
similar - and familiar - to the form used last year). You will need to
sign up for a new account and authenticate your email address. This may
take a few minutes, so make sure to factor that into your plans.

More detail on changes to the submission form will be announced shortly,
but the submission process will remain the same.

Specifically, events will be reviewed and placed in several cycles
(again, just like last year):

* Event Submission Opens January 21, 2009

* Event Review Cycle 1 January 21 - January 30, 2009

* Event Review Cycle 2 January 31 - February 13, 2009

* Event Review Cycle 3 February 14 - March 20, 2009

* Event Submission Closes March 20, 2009

All events from one cycle are placed before events in any following
cycles (cycle 1 before 2 or 3, cycle 2 before 3, cycle 3 last), so if
you want the best placement and to confirm your location well in
advance, submit your events early.

The revised Event Host Policy -

Event Host Policy (revision 9.0) -

-has also been released for 2009, and by submitting an event for Gen Con you
attest that you have read it and agree to abide by it. Please make sure
that you have familiarized yourself with the rules governing your event.

If you have any questions or run into any problems during event
submission, do not hesitate to contact the Events department

mailto:events@gencon.com?subject=Event%20Submission%20Question/Problem/

If you have an event idea that doesn't seem to fit the form, send us a
message explaining what you want to do. You can also visit the GM forum

Gamemasters -

- on our web site to askquestions and keep up with event announcements.

Remember: it's always better to ask questions before you submit your
events than find an unexpected problem down the road.

Once again, more details will be announced within the next few weeks but
I want to assure that we are doing everything I can to make this
transition as smooth as possible. I think we will all be happy with
these changes.
