GM Email: Event Submission delayed until Jan 21 -
This is a big announcement. More details will be announced in the coming
weeks but I wanted to let GMs and event organizers know that an
opportunity came up on very short notice and we are seizing the chance
to improve and develop our tools to address some long-standing concerns
we have all had.
The most immediate effect this will have is that event submission has
been pushed back by a week. Once it does begin, the process will be very
similar to how it has worked in the past, but the form will be slightly
different.
Event Submission Delayed - Begins January 21st
Event submission begins early this year, but the opening date has been
pushed back slightly as we work on finishing a new system and some
last-minute features: event submission for Gen Con Indy 2009 will begin
at noon Pacific time on January 21st, 2009.
Events will be submitted using a new online form (though it will be very
similar - and familiar - to the form used last year). You will need to
sign up for a new account and authenticate your email address. This may
take a few minutes, so make sure to factor that into your plans.
More detail on changes to the submission form will be announced shortly,
but the submission process will remain the same.
Specifically, events will be reviewed and placed in several cycles
(again, just like last year):
* Event Submission Opens January 21, 2009
* Event Review Cycle 1 January 21 - January 30, 2009
* Event Review Cycle 2 January 31 - February 13, 2009
* Event Review Cycle 3 February 14 - March 20, 2009
* Event Submission Closes March 20, 2009
All events from one cycle are placed before events in any following
cycles (cycle 1 before 2 or 3, cycle 2 before 3, cycle 3 last), so if
you want the best placement and to confirm your location well in
advance, submit your events early.
The revised Event Host Policy -
Event Host Policy (revision 9.0) -
-has also been released for 2009, and by submitting an event for Gen Con you
attest that you have read it and agree to abide by it. Please make sure
that you have familiarized yourself with the rules governing your event.
If you have any questions or run into any problems during event
submission, do not hesitate to contact the Events department
mailto:events@gencon.com?subject=Event%20Submission%20Question/Problem/
If you have an event idea that doesn't seem to fit the form, send us a
message explaining what you want to do. You can also visit the GM forum
Gamemasters -
- on our web site to askquestions and keep up with event announcements.
Remember: it's always better to ask questions before you submit your
events than find an unexpected problem down the road.
Once again, more details will be announced within the next few weeks but
I want to assure that we are doing everything I can to make this
transition as smooth as possible. I think we will all be happy with
these changes.
