[GenCon] POI at GenCon

Personally, I found the Safe House to be overly crowded and expensive, especially during GenCon. In my opinion, it is simply over-rated.

I'll admit, the theme is cool and it might be a whole different ball of wax some other time of year, but during GenCon everyone and there brother (and cousins, aunts and dogs) is there.

I have heard that the Safe House is quite crowded during the Gen Con, but as for my experience...we went last year on Wednesday afternoon when we got in town for lunch. At that time of day we were free to roam around without really anybody there at all.

As for other places to visit, there is a water park called Paradise Landing in the Hilton Milwaukee City Center: http://www.paradiselanding.com/index1.htm

There's also Miller Brewing Company, and there is a Circus Museum in the basement of the Grand Avenue Shopping Mall.

The weekend after GenCon is Milwaukee Irish Fest. Unfortunately, there are no large festivals scheduled for the weekend before or the weekend of GenCon.

Oops, I was incorrect. The weekend before GenCon (August 2-4) is African World Fest. So if you're in town early, check it out.
