Unless they change the rules for Cons, the mall doesn't have free parking. I live in Indy, and everytime I've been to the mall I've had to pay - but it's not much, about $5. :)

On the weekends (sat and sun) the parking meters downtown are free, though arrive early to catch one during the Con. :)

I may be misremembering a low price as "free." I guess compared to $15 a day it seemed such... :)

My apologies,

It'd probably be easier for the both of you to leave the child with her biological father. I don't know about gencon (never been there-too far and not enough loot), but most cons have lots of stuff to do, but not much or any for children. And to be honest, you'd rather be doing other stuff both con-wise and anniversary-wise to want the child around.... ;) This should be your time alone, so to speak.... Once she's older, then you can start taking her to cons.

OK, well i didn't expect that pre-reg would still be available, just kind of wishful thinking. :D is the line shorter on thursday, because we can probably get there thursday afternoon/evening. any idea how late the registration is open on thursday?

Thursdays are usually best for registering (at least for Dragoncon, another huge con!). The lines are usually much, much shorter than Friday or Saturday.

That's the starting price to pay to park in downtown Atlanta for Dragoncon. All hotels there, if I'm not mistaken, charge an arse-load for parking, even if you ARE a guest at their hotel.

While the lines on Thursday were shorter then Friday and Saturday...they were still really darn long. But that had more to do with the problems getting people registered then anything I imagine. I will all depend on how well the regestration process runs.

and does anyone know if online registering for events is still available or would i have to wait until i get there? or is this something that never existed and i was just imagining it to begin with? ;)

It's precisely event registration that is definitely closed. You *might* still be able to buy an admissions badge online (though presumably at "onsite" prices at this point)--but perhaps taking a look at http://www.gencon.com might be an effective way to find out? ;)

I'm pretty sure you can set up an account right now, even if you can't buy a badge--the system is designed to allow that more-or-less year-round. Don't have any idea if that would expedite purchase once you got onsite, however.

cool, that's kind of what i was hoping for. we have a bit of business here in chicago to attend to, but then the Mrs. assures me we can get going right away. i figure if we leave no later than... 2PM?... or so, we should still be able to get there early enough to register and then chill out the rest of the day.

i don't think i have any more questions! thank you all. :)
