General question: the Gates of Hell and the Mad Empowered Clones

Hello all,
One of my players was telling me about a person who wrote a PDf or had a download that detailed the Gates of Hell with the intention of releasing 8 more. Either he is lying to me, which is a possibility since I seem to always nerf his character, or I just can't find it.

It may not be on this forum, I have looked 20 back and have not found it. can anyone help?

Also, I heard that the story hour cantianed a story about a wizard who empowered a clone spell which created clones more powerful than the creating wizard and they cloned themselves to make an army of wizard to track down the creator. It sounds whacky, but also fun and interesting. I would like to read it but I can't find that either, does anyone know the name of that story and maybe have a link to it.

I don't know about empowered clones, but (when it would work, in 3.0) I started a major plot thread with multi-empowered simulacra that's still going in my game. This sounds exactly like what your player was referring to other than the clone/simulacrum factor.
