General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

I recently did a simple 5E based Star Wars RPG based on the first SW d20 rules (the ones with Wounds and Vitality). There are plenty more complex and comprehensive versions about on the internet (heck, you could use Esper Genesis* if you want something published, the QuickStart is free on DTRPG).

*Esper Genesis isn’t SW but it’s very adjacent and you could use it for a non-standard setting like the High Republic or suchlike.

Sadly I have no idea how well all of these work (not least my own game) and what might be more or less annoying about them.
Thanks. I had forgotten about Esper Genesis.

There’s also Hyperlanes, which is similar but doesn’t have its own Mass Effect like setting IIRC. It’s notable for Gambits (basically, spell-like abilities for non-psychic characters that let you pull off action film manoeuvres), a wide range of monsters and other enemies with Weaknesses you can discover and exploit, and the most impressive HP creep I’ve ever seen in a d20 game.

The best Star Wars game is SWADE (Savage World Adventure Edition) right out of the core book, plus the Vehicle Guide. You can use the sci-fi companion, of course, but you don't need to. Everything you need is in the core rules.

I know some folkds think other systems suit SW better than DnD but to me, Star Wars is perfectly at home in dnd-like mechanics.

But i would love to try it out in Daggerheart, except that DH is very...limited?

I want character building with several decision points, where you can make a character whose moves and competencies are mechanically represented in specific features, and where the Jedi, Noble, Scoundrel, and Scout can all be part of the same game without any oddity like needing 3 books that were each written as a game in themselves.

While I like the SWSE mechanics, I really felt like d20 was not the right game system to use for Star Wars. The 1-20 level spread was too much. Star Wars needs a flatter game mechanic system. I've never tried the newer FFG version or the old d6 WEG version.
