I’m going to see this, but yeah, my expectations are low as well. Bad name, and it feels almost like a soft reboot - they’ve brought back the Razor Crest and Mando’s gone back to bounty hunting. There’s no real sense of the plot from any of the trailers other than more “building the doomed New Republic” stuff, which honestly I could do without because like, what even is the point? We all know it’s just going to get hyperspace laser beamed out of existence 30 years later.
Final trailer
Seems to be a lot of indifference. It didnt even break top 10 most anticipated movies.
Havent seen any early projections. Tickets on sale around now iirc Monday here.
Im gonna go see it ASAP. Anticipation levels low. I'm expecting it will be fine/fun
I would like to see an Andor-style series about the rise of the First Order, although that would probably be super-uncomfortable for a large part of the audience. But I honestly feel like that's the most fertile part of the setting left to till.I like the post-RotJ time period, but I’d much rather they stay away from the New Republic because they’ve already wrecked it by showing it to be riddled with Imperial moles and sympathizers. I’m really not a fan of how Disney has handled the New Republic at all. It just makes it feel like all the struggles and sacrifices of Luke, Han, Leia, Andor, Jyn, and all the other Rebels was for nought.
To be fair, the New Republic did become a cesspool in the EU.I’m going to see this, but yeah, my expectations are low as well. I would do 100 years or more past RoS with a galaxy divided into various factions and a new Jedi/ new Sith Cold War.I would like to see an Andor-style series about the rise of the First Order, although that would probably be super-uncomfortable for a large part of the audience. Safer, though, to just jump post RoS and run like hell. And probably for the best, all things considered.
More Jedi/Sith stuff seems like the least interesting thing one could do in Star Wars, beyond nonsense like "here's a secret adventure of Obi-Wan teaming up with young Leia," which everyone involved should have been too embarrassed to be involved in.I would do 100 years or more past RoS with a galaxy divided into various factions and a new Jedi/ new Sith Cold War.
