Bad name

I’ve been thinking about this, and I don’t think it is, it actually tells you what it is about - Grogu transitioning to main character. It’s also why it needed to be a movie - making him able to do stuff is expensive.

There’s no real sense of the plot

I think they are trying to avoid the major spoiler that Weaver’s character is the main villain (and Rotta is a good guy). When someone says it’s not about revenge you can be sure it’s about revenge.

It was established in the TV series that he was emotionally attached to that model of classic starship and was looking for one the same. Given time and credits it would be surprising if he didn’t find one.

But kids these days just aren’t interested in Star Wars, it’s the stuff grandad likes. It’s always going to be a hard sell.

Meh. That doesn’t make it any better of a name. I mean, “Grogu” isn’t the greatest name, either, and the writers know it. (Remember how they had Peli comment that she wasn’t going to call him that?)

Perhaps! But that would just be more “New Republic is doomed from the start” crap.

Yes, I remember. But the show also did a good job showing him “leveling up” - he upgraded his armor, upgraded his weapons, and upgraded his spaceship. Yeah, I guess if he’s gotten back into bounty hunting, he needs a cargo ship, but still … this feels like a downgrade rather than another upgrade.


But, look, I’m prepared to have my mind changed by the movie itself. I might end up thinking it’s the best Star Wars movie since Rogue One! You never know!

I just hope it’s better than Mando S3 and Ahsoka S1 (and the Book of Boba Fett).

We know that to be the case. And Star Wars has always been political.

Yeah, I guess if he’s gotten back into bounty hunting, he needs a cargo ship, but still … this feels like a downgrade rather than another upgrade.

We don't know how he has been dragged back into bounty hunting. Aging gunslinger dragged out of retirement for one last job is a well established western trope. And a retired guy rarely has the latest gear. The Razorcrest is more like being wealthy enough to own a classic sportscar. The paint job is probably original stylings. He never had the money to have the previous Razorcrest resprayed. Of course it likely is upgraded under the hood.

Note that Boba Fett did the same thing - Jango Fett's Firespray was destroyed (TCW), the one Boba has is a different ship but the same model.

My expectations are about Solo level.

If its fun its a win. Generally I liked Solo.

I doubt it will be bad as such.
