General video game discussion

Picked up a bunch of classic Squeenix titles on my Switch because they're all on sale, including Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge of the Seven, and The Last Remnant Remastered.

So of course as soon as I do I come down sick as a dog and can barely think so I just fall back on my comfort game (Civ)

Eh, I've been playing it for a while now and it seems fine. My only complaint was they had an opportunity to fix the diplomatic system from the original and not only didn't, it seems if anything worse. Other than that I haven't seen anything to complain about.
I guess calling it trash was a bit harsh, but I didn't see much in the new version that was actually improved. IIRC Even the modernized unit models were harder for me to tell apart than the ones in the original. And on my system it also ran slowly and occasionally soft-locked.

Also it felt like it wanted to be Civilization rather than Master of Magic.

Admittedly though my impressions of the game are rather sparse and fragmentary, as I pretty quickly gave up due to how poorly the game runs on my computer.

In fairness to what I know of the MoM fandom, opinion on the remake is as low as your chances of retaking a rebellious town housing a full stack of high-leveled halfling slingers.

Speaking from personal experience, of course
