General video game discussion

Have finally finished Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters on legendary - playing the highest difficulty isn’t usually my thing but it’s a great game so I made an exception. Not having had enough of the grim darkness of the far future, I’ve moved on to Rogue Trader. Like the setting, the art, the characters, and the writing, but man I cannot get my head around the class system. I just wanna play a space wizard, why you make it so hard!

I’ve been watching WW2 stuff with my girls lately – Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Memphis Belle … that’s given me a hankering to play a WW2 FPS.

The only one I’ve got is Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which is more than 20 years old now.

Are there any good modern WW2 FPS single player games with a decent length campaign? I don’t do multiplayer, and I understand games like Battlefield V are geared toward multiplayer so the single player campaign is short. (Like Star Wars Battlefront II.)

CoD: WWII has a good campaign about 7 to 8 hours long

It does kind of feel like single-player FPS campaigns, especially with realistic military shooters, is more or less a relic of the past.

Allied Assault is an absolute classic, though. So many visceral memories of storming the beach at Omaha in that game.

OK. That one does look good, but it's out of my price range! I'll have to add it to my wishlist and wait for it to be on sale.

Yeah. It's sad. I've never liked multiplayer-focused games. I've had some fun with SW: Battlefront II, but I mostly only played co-op. I don't like online PvP games because of the toxicity and the cheating and my PC is never good enough anyway.

Absolutely. I got it running on my PC (got it for cheap through GoG cos my CD-based version wouldn't install), and I'm already through the North Africa campaign and am infiltrating the u-boat base. The D-Day sequence really was like playing through the D-Day scene in Saving Private Ryan!
