I think i want to get really acquainted with Rivellon before Divinity comes out. Which Divinity games are worth playing all the way through? I plan on definitely doing D:OS2, but should I D:OS1? What about the older games?

Both Divinity Original Sin games have a lot to recommend them, I spent a lot of hours playing them. However, they're also pretty big, dense games whose combats tend to run very long at later levels and with each of them I found myself getting fatigued later in the game. I'm not sure I actually ever finished either of them, despite multiple playthroughs.

The turn-based combat is very good, and especially in the second game there are a lot of elements of verticality and environmental effects in the battles, even compared to BG3. Often, tactics that would feel like borderline exploits in other games are simply the expected approach in these.

I own it and just haven't gotten to it. Not least because I kind of don't enjoy depressing entertainment and I am worried it is going to be that.
