Generation Legacy Issue #11 Cont'd

Paragon nods, “I understand, well you should see Jun Min, she will be expecting you.”

"Ok," Mark agreed and took his leave, stepping out to find Anika waiting. For Mark, the speedy elite looked like hell; his face ashen and eyes distant and haunted. He moved slowly, even by normal standards.

At least I think Anika was still waiting out here for him. :)

OOC: Anika and Ryan, actually.

Anika's grin disappears as Mark emerges from the office. "Good luck, Ryan. If you can actually get Cassie to come back on her own, that'd be awesome."

"Um, hey, Mark. Can we talk?"
Anika says, getting a knot in her stomach.

Mark didn't look at Ryan, not wanting to reopen the conversation he ended with the finger earlier.

"Can it wait? I have to go see Jun Min right now," Mark asked, tired and subdued. Or I could just take off and get a fix on my way to...whetever.

Karen

Kal replies with a glazed look, “Huh oh yeah, it sounds great, can’t wait to see it all done. Sounds, really, really exciting.”

Karen has two messages waiting for her perusal.

Karen gives Kal a squeeze and kisses him on his cheek, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to geek out on you," she says with an indulgent smile at his less than enthusiastic reply, she fills the order form to get the wreck shipped to the institute.

"Uhm... what's this?" she mumbles as she opens her mailbox.

"Jun Min?" Anika looks at Paragon's door. "Does he already know? And he's sending him to Jun Min?" she thinks in confusion. "Um, okay, we can talk on the way," she says, leaving Ryan to talk with Paragon, and to keep the conversation more private. "Look, Jun Min is a great councilor, but I don't think she quite understands...the problem like we do. We're friends, right? And while I don't like to talk about it, everyone knows...about my time in Germany. You know you could come to me, I totally understand. I know things are stressful right now, so let me help. Not just because Legacy needs their leader, but because I care about your well being."

Mark went, eager to be away from Ryan before another fight started.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Mark told Anika flatly. Star told her?!

"Mark, don't," Anika says with a frown. "I told you, I'm not judging you, I want to help you. Please don't play dumb."

"Star didn't keep her mouth shut, did she?" Mark sighed, resigned. Why wouldn't she tell Anika after what I did to her?

"Don't blame Star," she quickly replies. "I caught her before she left. And she didn't say your name or what she was getting...it was almost like she couldn't," she says, raising an eyebrow, "but I've done that whole thing before myself, I knew what she was doing for you. I convinced her to not do it."

She gets a sad look on her face, "I'm disappointed in how you've treated her today, but I know what addiction can do, so I don't blame you. You really don't want to do this, Mark. You're strong, all these months we've been friends and I had no idea. But, that's the problem, too. I know it's not something to be proud of, but keeping it bottled up inside you isn't good. Talking about it with someone helps, trust me. I understand if you don't want everyone to know, but I know, and I'm here to listen if you need to talk."

Because I asked her not to.

You don't want to know about it," Mark assured Anika with some sincerity. She doesn't know what she's really looking at. She has no idea. "Just-" Mark shook his head, "I'm fine, ok? I just- I suck. If I talk to you right now I'm just going to piss you off and cause problems, like I did with Star..."
