Generic or Specific Class Preference?

My thoughts on the matter are very similar to Psion's. The core classes would be very flexible and would be able to encompass a large number of archetypes within each group. I would have four base classes, the Warrior, Wizard, Cleric and Rogue. Each class would have their own list of class-specific feats and templates that would help new players model the specific archetype they were looking for.

As an example, templates for the warrior might include - the archer, knight, gladiator, duelist, viking, etc. Multiclassing templates might include - (Un)Holy Warrior (Warrior/Cleric), Ranger (Warrior/Rogue/Cleric?), Spellblade (Warrior/Wizard), Ninja (Warrior/Rogue), etc. Prestige Classes would regain their prestige, as something a character would aspire to - like the Paladin, the Bladesinger or the Archmagi...

Cheers!

I like it specific, but not too specific. I think D&D classes are better than d20 Modern.
