Gestalt Star Wars D20

I don't see how you come to that conclusion.

I believe that he thought that you were taking Jedi Guardian and Jedi Weapon Master at the same time, on separate "tracks", as it were.

Out of the 74 Official prestige classes produced so far for the d20 Star Wars RPG, only 9 were for Jedi, only 12%. I keep a big master index of every class (with sources) for d20 Star Wars for reference when I run it. :)

First, I'm surprised there are that many PrCs.

Second, you've scared me. ;)

What I should have said is the ones that catch my attention are the Force User Prestige classes. I know as a player in a gestalt Star War universe I would probably chose Jedi Consular/Soldier and have the bab and the force powers, part of me finds this disturbing and a bit overpowered.

At the same time Yoda and Windu could be described in this fashion.

I prefer to describe Yoda and Windu as around 30th level. (Official stats or no. Don't you think they're epic?)
Really, they work just fine at the levels they're statted with.

Besides, I'm also of the opinion that statting out characters like Yoda/Mace/Palpatine is like statting out Gods in D&D. Sure, a few people might actually get use out of it, but they're really more for show.

But AMG you allowed gestalt SW character before... ;)

My truest complaint about the write-ups as they are is that Palpatine has about 7 skill focus feats with force skills… (That’s from memory I could be wrong.)

It just seems to incline to me that something is broken and that is the skill points of the Jedi classes... (Which is the first thing I would be looking to fix in a gestalt Jedi game)

The way I see it, stats for Vader/Palpatine/Yoda ect are there for comparison. If you're PC's are this powerful, your game is too powerful. Vader or Palpatine should be able to whoop any group of PC's in the Rebellion era (with some elite stormtrooper/Royal Guard backup for the most powerful powerful PC's). If they didn't have official stats, there would be countless unofficial ones roaming around.

In a galaxy of trillions of inhabitants across millions of worlds, thousands of Jedi (EU sources say that there were roughly 3,000 Jedi as of the Clone Wars), untold millions of smugglers, pirates, bandits, fighter pilots and such, there is definitely some room for "Epic" Star Wars to some degree, but only the very best would be Epic. Palpatine, Yoda, Mace Windu and Vader (as of the Original Trilogy) could believably be in the mid 20's range I'd say, but the existing stats work for the vast majority of games. I think the limit of 20th level was established for simplicity, in not having to reprint Epic level rules for a tiny number of NPC's that will probably be at most cameo appearances in most games.

Well think about it this way. If only a four or so of the main characters FROM THE MOVIES who would just be NPCs anyway are the only ones who would really qualify for being that level, why make a bunch of rules for it?

It'd really just be a waste, as what really matters is the PCs, and if you give them those levels to reach, they'll do it, and you'll end up having the same complaints. :)

Though I'm not a fan of Gestalt and I have no problem at all with how the SWd20 game is set up, I definitely agree that IF you think there's a problem, don't bump up the level cap as that won't actually solve anything. Gestalt will at least fix a few things that some people don't like(less skills for Jedi, etc)

That's the biggest reason I'm not a huge fan of feats-and-skills magic systems; either you have to give the magic-users tons of skill points, or they won't have much left for anything else (for much the same reason, I'm not a big fan of using HP/VP to power spells; it works in Star Wars, because most players accept Jedi are just better than anyone else, and so don't complain about Consulars with d8 hit dice or Guardians with d10 hit dice).

I agree, I think my dislike for it is well documented... I've said many times that my Jedi's rarely use their force powers outside of heal self, or attempts of heal another.

Any system that forces you to look at your total skill modifier (skills points and ability modifier) in conjunction of always taking a ten cause you don't have enough points to cover all the required skills.

Now don't get me wrong, I really like the VP/WP system better over HP. :) I just don't like how it functions with Jedi.
