An archer-type?

The Wizard-Conjurer Specialist option in PHBII will allow you an occasional full attack with your skirmish, which isn't something you can normally get.

The Warlock suggestion is sound. A Scout with Spider Climb always on? Pretty cool. Warmage isn't a bad option, either.

On the other hand, fighter does give you a boost in hp, bab, and all those feats...

The wizard conjurer specialist from PHBII sounds interesting from what I've heard of it, but PHBII isn't available. :( (Nobody's gotten around to getting a copy)

If you just want to go straight archer-type, I'd also consider Scout x | Ranger 6/Fighter x - there are a number of ranger spells that boost archery and mobility (in particular in the spell compendium), and Manyshot is the archer-scout's friend.

Some additional things to remember with the ranged Scout:

- Skirmish only works within 30' - a bow may not be the optimal weapon. Consider thrown weapons (Master Thrower Prestige Class?) or a sling.

- You'll often be depending more on skirmish than on base damage. A cantrip like Acid Splash can be an effective weapon when you are adding multiple d6s to it.

- Swift (or Quickened) spells that move you can allow you to get a full attack in - I can't think of many of these off the top of my head. Updraft should work.

For pure hitting power it's hard to beat a Scout/Dervish with the TWF tree. Fast, agile, stealthy, and the ability to add Skirmish to a full attack. Speaking from experience it's a very potent combination.

I remember there being an option of Barbarians that improved Dex instead of Str when they raged (may have been 3rd party though). Even then, if traps are a problem, it might work out for you. Fast movement (not sure if it stacks), d12 HD, ref bonuses for traps, and a means up increasing your survival odds if your DM finds a way to pin you down.

Bounce around when you have room; when you don't they get a charging Barbarian with PA and Skirmish on their heads.
