Get This - Paladin's mount not immune to fear

I found this amusing tidbit the other day:

Paladins are immune to fear. This immunity is a supernatural ability. A paladin shares spells with his mount, but not his supernatural powers. Thus, the mount would benefit from a paladin's aura of courage, but isn't totally immune to fear. It could become panicked or shaken just like anyone else.

Doesn't that seem wierd? Any paladins out there ever have a panicked mount bolt on them?

I don't see anything weird about this. Horses are supposed to panic and bolt at inconvenient times. A paladin's magical mystery mount gets various special abilities, but immunity to fear isn't one of them.

If it weren't supposed to panic, it would be immune to fear, wouldn't it?

In the game world, if a mount isn't supposed to panic at a specific moment, it will not (it makes its save).

What's a Paladin's special mount's Will save?

I'd say that if it failed its save, chances are that the source of the p43aR was PRETTY.BLOODY.SCARY.

My Paladin actually has a Griffon as a special mount...

His Will save is only +5... my large magical beast scares easily... eep!

The paladin's warhorse is not necessarily more likely to panic than some of the paladin's heroic PC buddies.

Horses, like most animals, have a 13 Wis. That can be upped by an enhancement item and/or the level 4 or 12 stat boost. And you can buy the mount a resistance item. And the warhorse can get the Iron Will feat.
