Can anyone suggest a good site for having PDFs printed and bound? I tried Print Fu but they aren't taking orders at the moment... TIA

I noticed that the last update to Adobe Acrobat added a "Send to Fed Ex Kinkos" button, that allows you to send your pdf over the internet to be printed and bound and mailed back.

Has anyone used this service?

I used PrintFu and they were extraordinarily cheap and efficient. You upload the PDF, you pay them, they print it and bind it and mail it to you. Bang bang bang.

Cheers,
Cam

Use it quick. Adobe got hammered over this and they're taking it out next patch.

Dragonhelm:

You can only use LuLu if you own the copyright on the product. If you are buying a PDF from a publisher, you can't then upload it to LuLu and print it.

It's still available at the FedEx Kinko's website, actually; it just won't come bundled into the main application :)

Huh? See this thread:

As theredrobedwizard stated, "they won't let you make the book available for sale to others unless you have publication rights, but they'll allow 'just for me' type printing of pdfs."

If you read the fine print over at Lulu, you aren't supposed to do 'just for me' printing like that. You should be the copyright holder of any product you publish, even if only for yourself. The fact that theredrobedwizard violated that simply indicates that Lulu doesn't monitor the process very well, but officially, I don't believe you're supposed to do that. Therefore, if you do it, you are doing so at your own risk.

That being said, I'm certain that several people do it. I've seen the occasional post on a blog or that kind of thing to indicate such. However, know that if you are doing it, you may well be violating Lulu's publishing guidelines. Prudence would indicate that if the guidelines suggest that you should publish stuff you don't own the copyright to, then you probably shouldn't tell people that you are violating Lulu's guidelines, just in case.

Hope This Helps,
Flynn

So yeah, I guess if you have arranged to have permission to have the PDF printed by a third-party service you could do it that way.

I love the quality of LuLu print runs, but I was pretty sure that you had to have the copyright on anything you were printing through them.
