Giant rock throwing, one or two hands?

Legend
When a giant throws a rock is this with both hands or can he hold something in the other hand?

For my game this is relevant for fire and frost giants who throw large rocks.

Personal opinion: Let them do it either way. Two-handed gives the giant a whopping 1 1/2 Str mod to damage, but the giant cannot iterative attack unless he has Quick Draw. We just assume that giants carry ~3 couple rocks in the off hand during combat (and a few more in the satchel), and they drop them if they are pullig out their melee weapon.

I can't remember the specifics offhand, but the giant prestige class bumps up the weight categories that a giant can throw with the Throw Anything feat. So using two hands to hurl a 500 pound boulder just got a whole lot nastier!

Complete Warrior also has a section on improvised weapons that can help determine light, one-handed or two-handed status of hurled weapons. Throwing a two-handed weapon is a full-round action, so no iterative attacks, even with Quickdraw. Keep in mind that maximum range is five range increments, no matter how strong you are.

In 3E, it specified that no matter whether a weapon was two-handed or not, you always throw a weapon with one hand.

(However, the same line is absent from 3.5.)

Nifty. Do you have a page # for that?

In classic AD&D the pictures always showed giants hoisting a rock in both hands.

The picture in the 3.0 MM shows one being picked up one-handed. Other than that, it seems to be not specified.
