Giant Space Hamster Names!

Someone can probably correct me on this...or at least correct/clarify some of my details. But the Giant Space Hamster harkens back to the Spelljammer Days of 2nd edition.

They were guardians, created in mystic laboratories all over the Spelljammer cosmos. They had these HUGE, TERRIBLE, FEARSOME stat blocks...and a morale of 3.

If you just looked at them funny and went, "AHHHH" they would run for their lives. Back those suckers into a corner though...and the FIGHT IS ON BABY!

They really were just a joke...but they also became something of an industry "pet" at the time. Of course, also being fondly remembered in Baldur's Gate..."Go for the eyes Boo"

Someone mentioned them in another thread, just got me all nostalgic. I don't have access to the original stat blocks for them, so there is no way I could stat block one.

But man, they were fearsome critters.

Here's one I threatened my players with. <sniff> I never did get to write it up...

but it was the

Flying giant fire-breathing phase doppleganger demonic vampiric sorcerous Space Hamster lich-priest!

Note that Flying Space Hamsters have an additional ranged attack. *Splat*

I once featured Giant Hamsters in a homebrew campaign- they were the mounts of the famous Hampstire Lancers, the elite cavalry of Freehold, the Great Imperial Kingdom of Gnomenkind. I based the gnomes in the campaign off of Victorian Britons- they tended to look down (metaphorically speaking) upon the other races, considered every land to be their colony, and generally made fools of themselves. However, one of the NPC's, Col. Rupert Fennyman and his battlemage, Pennywick, rode bravely in defense of a PC's barony. Their mount, Buckminster the Bold, proved to be a mighty and brave combatant indeed!

And, after Chinston Wurchill was elected Prime Minister of Freehold, the Hampstire Lancers boldly joined the "lesser peoples" in their fight against the Orcish Reich... :)

I don't know why...but I just remember the Giant Space Hamster stats as being well...FEARSOME!!

I mean, the stats you guys had listed were fine...but I wasn't hit with the "shock and awe!" (sorry, couldn't help it).

Does anyone remember what the old stats from 2nd edition for the GSH's were?
