Girdles, Gloves, Giants & Ogres, Oh My!

I disagree with that. The 3.0 errata wording is a bit tangled, but literally it says this: "p. 208 and 209, Bracers of health OR an amulet of: REPLACE 'amulet' with: bracers".
But if they meant to replace the word bracers with the word amulet, why are they saying to replace the word amulet with the word bracers?

In other words, which takes precedence: the instructions that where it says "amulet" I'm supposed to put in the word "bracers" instead, or the page number? Damn, when is the 3.0 DMG Errata Errata going to be released? ;)

we went with bracers in our group because we liked it better anyway

Yeah, I think I'll just worry about it if we ever switch to 3.5. Which we aren't likely to do anytime in the near future, so I guess they're bracers until then. ;)

(1) The page number.
(2) If you don't like that, the standard is that the text takes precedence over the table -- that is, p. 207 where it's an "amulet of health".
(3) If you don't like that, look to 3.5 where it's an "amulet of health".

I always thought the stacking exception was a rather nice (from a flavour point of view). I wonder how balanced that would be as a standard weapon ability?

Thinking about it, it gives an extra +1 to hit and (at best) +2 to damage. For the cost of a +1 bonus, plus a couple of thousand gp and a body slot, I think this is reasonable, maybe even a little weak. What do you think?

I prefer to play this game more along the lines of Diablo 2. Thor can keep his silly old magic items. ;)

I personally wish that DnD didn't even have specific magic item "slots". Each monster type should have a total number of magic items that can be worn. Humanoids would have 11 in the base rules. Plus 2 for a weapon and shield. Justify it by chakra points or divine inspiration or magical interference or whatever.

The cool part is that a DM can then alter how many magic items you can wear based on the setting. Low magic could have 4, Twinky Realms could have 32.

Does it really bother people that I want a character that can wear ten magic rings? Or ten piercings? Or a magic shirt and magic vest? Does it destroy game balance? Blech.

Some DMs are afraid of Goggles of Strength or Kneepads of Charisma. I think that silliness rarely happens. Most players don't want to have a silly character and those that do won't be stopped by a mere rule.
