Give a brawler a hand?

First Post
Hey everyone,

Just made my new fighter a Human using the brawling fighter build.

Played my first session with it and liked the results; however, some questions did arise but were sorted out taking a bit as we were looking through various books.

Does anyone have or know of a reference sheet that would make my life and my DMs life sooo much easier.

Thanks in advance

Maybe actually telling us what type of issue arose would help. Are you and your GM new to the game and need a cheat sheet for running combat rounds? Or are you mostly concerned with the mechanics of grab actions?

The mechanics, such as escaping and what happens if one does, any negatives that apply to the person being grabbed and that doing the grabbing, any pluses gained, what actions can and can not be taken by both involved, ect

The condition "grabbed" is listed with the rest of the conditions: look it up in the index of the PHB, I can't remember the page (227? Maybe?)

In fact the index is probably the best place for you. It lets you find all the grabbing stuff really easily, since it's all listed in the same place.

However, there's really nothing to it.

Grabbed creatures are immobilized. That means they can't voluntarily move except by teleporting.

A grab can be broken by:
The grabbed creature spending a move action and succeeding at either an acrobatics(escaper) vs reflex(grabber) or an athletics(escaper) vs fortitude(grabber) check.

OR

The grabbed creature going out of reach of the grabber. Since the grabbed creature is immobilized, this will only happen if the grabber walks away or one of the two creatures is slid, pushed, teleported or pulled away from the other.

That's it.

First, check these out. They might be very useful: The Weem's Condition cards

Grabbed:
* You are immobilized

You are no longer grabbed if:
* You are teleported, pushed, pulled, or slid out of the range of the grabbing effect
* The grabber is teleported, pushed, pulled, or slid out of the range of the target of their grabbing effect
* The grabber is prevented from taking actions
* You use a Move Action to make an Acrobatics check vs. the grabber's Reflex defense OR an Athletics check vs. the grabber's Fortitude defense

Huh. Stealth eratta: a teleport no longer breaks grabs unless it breaks reach?

Makes ropers hella dangerous.

Hrm. I just consolidated what others said on that list, and added some things. I always thought if you teleported, you are no longer grabbed.

Whoa, since when? These sound like the restrained condition, not the grabbed condition. Did these two conditions get merged in essentials or something?

Now I'm second guessing myself. I'm at work so I can't reference the Rules Encyclopedia. Anyone else out there with the rules in hand? I'll edit my post until I find out for certain.

EDIT: Fixed... Hopefully..

Hi, your current incarnation is correct. When a creature is grabbed it is Immobilized, not Restrained, and does not grant combat advantage.
