For those of you unfamiliar with them. Garrett is the original hardboiled "Fantasy Noir" dectective. He's your classic "Film Noir" hard bitten dectective with a heart of gold. The incorruptable man in a very corrupt world. Very well written and entertaining. The early books in the series have been out of print for years and are now FINALLY being reprinted.

Book 1 : Sweet Silver Blues - Garrett is called upon to track down a woman who's the heir to a substantial fortune. Despite several attractive redheads, mobsters and the perils of the Cantard, the Jungle hell hole he barely escaped with his life. Of course she's also the woman who broke his heart in his younger days.

Book 2 : Bitter Gold Hearts From the cover. "The Stormwarden's children have been kidnapped and Garrett, P.I. is on the case. But caught between the bewitching beauty of a half-elf and the fearsome power of a horde of ogres, Garrett has to think twice before sacrificing all for a fortune in gold-after all, even in this enchanted land, he's only human."

For those interested, his excellent Dread Empire Series is also being reprinted in hardcover. But not just yet.

Ooooh, good news. I have all of them, but for those that don't...

I gotta say though, the blurbs for his novels are always terrible.

Agreed on all counts. I have all the books, the blurbs are uniformly poor. I would add that I've never really liked the cover art, it's always felt non-representative of the story (and even the characters pictured) to me.

The books themselves I can't recommend enough.

Actually, it's already being reprinted.

A Cruel Wind http://www.nightshadebooks.com/book.aspx?bookid=141 is out now (and on my couch), and A Fortress in Shadow http://www.nightshadebooks.com/book.aspx?bookid=162 comes out in June.

I did have a hard time finding the former.

Especially since he mentions, in the books, that he never wears a hat.

And the cover always shows him wearing one.

Hey it's hard boiled detective fiction and everyone knows that Hard Boiled detectives wear Fedoras. Even if the character never wears a hat (thank you Sam Spade). I can't say Garrett never wearing a hat was a fact that jumped out at me.

I always thought the covers were usually pretty decent, personally. The artist does bother to at least get an idea of what's going on in the story and depict something that captures the feel of the characters. Which is not the case with a lot of cover art.

Oh good, I've been meaning to check those out, but couldn't find them.

That's quite funny about the hats. Harry Dresden also doesn't wear a hat, but all the covers show him with one, especially the recent ones.

Despite being a fan of the Black Company series, I've actually managed to completely miss word of this series. It sounds pretty neat, like Glen Cook taking on the Myth series.

And I'll also chime in that most of Glen Cook's novels have pretty terrible covers.
