One our PC clerics once announced he was going to retire and spend his life on a beach casting continual light on grains of sand and hurling them into the sea. Now at least I know where he went.

Jamaica's 'Luminous Lagoon' near Trelawney also does this; it's caused by a microorganism in the water that glows when disturbed. This article has more info. The Trelawney site (and the three or four other glowing lagoons in the world) is very small compared to that but apparently is a more permanent phenomenon. Very cool to see yet another ocean mystery shown to be true. Maybe we'll get sea monsters yet
