Hi, would like a little advice if possible, since have just started a campaign in Eberron for the first time.
One of the players has picked a Warlock with the Great Old One specialism and 'Haunted One' background. She's not overly sure about the setting (in fact, I think she's not that keen to do much work outside of coming to the game - which is fine). But I would like to hook her into the story and give her character some kind of goal related to her choices.
I'm a little unfamiliar with Warlocks and how their pacts often work out in terms of RP and story hooks.
We started off the campaign with a flashback to the mourning where the PCs watched a nation being devastated from the borders. While this happened - the Warlock PC heard a voice in her head, she accepted it's offers of power, followed it's directions and was seperated from the group. The group found her later curled up and unconscious. Ever since then, she's been developing strange powers and new abilities. She decided the session following that she wanted to pick the GOO archetype with Haunted One background.
So, I think it unlikely that the mourning itself caused the character to become a warlock, but I was thinking at the time that something managed to get through from another plane (possible cause of Mourning), and selected the PC for some particular purpose. As a Warlock - she needs a Patron, but as this should be a GOO, would one of the Dark Six fit this? Would one even directly communicate with some lowly PC? Or could this be tied in with the Draconic prophecy in some way?
I have no outline for the campaign, and am currently just going through Shadows of the Last War (3.5 Eberron adventure) as an introduction. Maybe continuing with Whisper's of the Vampires Blade or my own content depending on how it goes.
Any help or siggestions as to what I can use to hook the player, flesh out who (or what) her patron might be and give her some goals/quests for future adventures would be very appreciated.
Thanks!
