GMG's Gazetteer of the Known Realms Questions

Arise ye thread from the grave!

Hey all, I was wondering, now that the shininess has worn off how this setting is faring for them?

Also curious about the "feel" details. Obviously, its graphically inspired by the old D&D Gazetteers, but how does it compared to the content of those volumes? Does the setting have the same sort of "more three dimensional than your standard faux-European" type of thing going on, or if it's "just enough setting to get you to the dungeon and have villagers to be threatened." I'm plundering some old Gazetteers for my setting and am looking for other sources.

Anyone decide that it's not for them and want to trade? ;)

I converted my homebrew setting/Shackled City over to Aereth shortly after picking up the box set when it was released, and I haven't looked back. It's most definatly my favourite campaign setting.

Sure, its a generic no frills world but after all these years that exactly what I wanted and needed.

Even though I have added it to my campaign world my players are still in the Erde/Greyhawk areas. So I haven't gotten to put it to use yet.

For those who don't know how I do my campaign world:

I realized a couple of months ago that since several of my favorite "campaign worlds" are not worlds, but detailed continents or areas, I put them all on the same world. So now Erde, Wilderlands, Aereth, Ravenloft, Blackmoor, part of Greyhawk, and part of Faerun "technically" make up my campaign world.

I tend to shy away from official D&D settings (other than Planescape), but my latest kitbash homebrew pulls in Freeport, the Necromancer Games metasetting, Freeport, Wilderlands, Sahasra, Naranjan (Mindshadows), Bluffside & the Dragon Sands, and Hamunaptra.

Which is why I bumped this thread, to assess if Known Realms is worth stripping for parts. ;)

Actually I have Freeport as well. I was just talking about full blown settings that many consider "worlds". I also have Bards Gate, Freehaven, Mithril, and many others.

I own all this stuff so I figured I had best maximize chances of putting it all to use.

I won't be placing modules though. I'll use them when and where I want to, not lock myself into anything.

KR has a lot of neat stuff that I have stripped. The Gods, the History, some of the ideas for the lands. I like it a lot. I just have a problem playing any campaign world other than my own. If I had to play a published settings it would be The Known Realms.
