GM's Knowing the Rules

I am almost always the GM and I tend to learn the systems fairly well. I kind of have to because some of my players don't tend to want to learn the rules. Even character creation in some games like most point buy systems. Some of them just want to sling dice and be told the outcome. Personally I prefer rulings over rules anyways as that's far more fun for everyone at my tables. Which is why 5th edition D&D works pretty well for me and why Dungeon Crawl Classics is currently my favorite system to run.Oh and in response to that tale of a player retroactively disliking a game because they found out the GM was winging it, that's nuts. This is why I firmly believe that a good GM, like a good magician, never reveals his secrets. Leaving the mystery is always far more interesting for the group.
