i rsent you sir i could say the same about ha;lf elves or evn elves
Um, what? They're almost universal in mythology.WarlockLord said:But gnomes are just useless. They don't appear in many mythologies
Wow. This is utterly untrue. There's a few select examples of translators settling on the wrong term, but there's a clear division in most of the world's myth and legend. Being short doesn't make them identical races.or if they do, they're basically interchangeable with dwarves.
More situational than stonecunning? Talking to animals and free spells are arguably two of the better abilities in the PHB.Their SLAs are cute, but useless or situational
Which isn't, and never has been, a PHB race. A gold dragon's a better wizard than a gnome, too. So what?and while the +1 to illusion DCs is nice, the gray elf is a better wizard.
Yup, but the mythological gnomes are completely unlike the d&d gnomes (yeah, I know, so are dwarves & elves, ...). Gnomes just don't have anything speaking for them in standard d&d. They aren't even good at what they're supposed to be good at.Whizbang Dustyboots said:Um, what? They're almost universal in mythology.

Think about baseball. That's what I do.
Gnomes aren't good at casting illusion spells? They're hands-down the best choice for illusionist, and that's before you use the racial substitution levels from Races of Stone. (The first level alone of which all but makes them a 1E illusionist.)Jhaelen said:Yup, but the mythological gnomes are completely unlike the d&d gnomes (yeah, I know, so are dwarves & elves, ...).
