Not bad is this off the new MM or not. If not you might want to look at other place for the Ecl or run it throw the cl calc that SS has. Just to make it so you know its full right.:)

This is based off the old MM.

However-
I looked at the gnoll ECL and it said 3. Savage species then would suggest I give the gnoll 3 levels. But I really feel if I were to do that, the gnoll would, to put it bluntly, blow.

Well, I think the +2 str and con is worth more than a single level, personally.

Otherwise, you've made a 2nd-level warrior who gets two ability scores bumped for free.

I'd probably try it like this:

Level-HD-BAB-Fort-Ref-Will-Skills-------Special
1------1d8 +1 +2 +0 +0 (2+int)x4 Darkvision
2------2d8 +1 +2 +0 +0 2+int +1 natural armor
3------2d8 +2 +3 +0 +0 --- +2 str, +2 con

darkvision is handled as an intrinsic power for ogres and any other humanoid that has darkvision, that is, gotten free at first level.

Thus I wouldn't use a level just for it. Personally, I guess this is a tough call... three levels seems too much, while two levels might not be enough. Maybe if I cut out the other +2 strength. Gnolls don't need a total of +4 anyway.

Right, I just put it in there for clarity...

The +2 str and con is why I think it needs a third level. :) If you want to make it a two-level class, I'd leave them off.

for something with such a tiny ecl why bother with a class just bump the other charactars to 3rd level and let the guy use the full gnoll from the get go or say the gnoll gains no class levels until it has ammassed enough exp to be third level after which treat normally
