Come to think of it, the claw can be used for nose-capture as well, if the target's nostrils are wide enough.

For game purposes, you would have to decrease the chances of the correct tool appearing the less skilled the gnome was in using the device. As one increases in experience, one would gain automatic access on demand to certain tools. (Perhaps in certain situations there is always a reduced chance of the correct tool coming to hand?) But every model will have at least one implement the function of which is known by absolutely NOBODY.
