Purely hypothetical. People play Gnomes?
Some of the first characters in our last 5e campaign (started in 2014 when the rules were new) were a gnome fighter and a gnome barbarian.Purely hypothetical. People play Gnomes?
Tinker gnomes aren't the only gnomish trope, it probably works better with some than others. My personal preference for gnomes is to channel Monster Hunter International's style Gangsta gnome culture & top it off with a healthy dose of KGB/Night Knocker style organization like The Trust as a political structure. Players learn quick that gnome NPCs are a special kind of scary & I've only once had a (newer) player completely ignore the rest of the group trying to say things like "nonono that bartender is a gnome and looks the part, that staff he's waving around will probably kill us all... in fact I want to get far far away from this here stranger I've never met in my life and make sure the gnome knows I'm trying to control the feebleminded fool so I don't get caught in the blast"Is this some kind of internet joke I've missed or something? I've seen a few references to the combination here and there, and it seems to presented as the absolute joke race/class combo and/or the worst possible thing someone can play. Granted, it's not an optimal choice in 3e, and it really doesn't fit the usual gnonish archetypes, but it's not utterly unplayably bad either. It's just a very unusual combination.
There's a gnome (well, half-gnome, but mechanically a gnome) in the campaign I'm running now. She's fairly insane, obsessed with building a magical engine powered by souls that may or may not destroy the world.Purely hypothetical. People play Gnomes?
I’ve never personally been exposed to this ‘gnome paladin is the worst’ viewpoint but i was never around during 3/4e either, but yeah this seems like a strong contender for the reason why, your archtypes pulling your character towards somehow being both lawful frustrating and chaotic eccentric at the same time.Ptobably a combination of the species that some people play as annoying and the class often played as annoying.
I do, on occasion. Recently had a lot of fun playing a gnomish battlesmith artificer.
I think their identity is a lot stronger in Pathfinder's Golarion, and I still don't know how many gnome players there are there.Sort of a joke. I see about 1 per edition. Last one I saw was 2015, before that 2002, before that 1997/8.
