Gnome Illusionists and Gnome Spys are used in the adventure Cairn of the Winter King.

Best of all, the reading between the lines of the flavor text gives a wonderful nod to true believers who were worried/upset they weren't in Essentials. The fluff is great.

I can't play 'em, but I DM 90% of the time anyway. I can't wait to inflict them on my PCs.

They have a complete racial write-up in Players Handbook 2. Refer to that to make player characters.
