GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

Considering how the size of these books, it’s definitely a fair price. Does the print version include a PDF, or is that seperate?

ALL REWARD TIERS are PDF + Code to buy the Hardcover at cost (ie. +$37 or +$60).

Also, any ideas about the add-ones? (I’m hoping to get that god-reaper miniature.)

The Add-ons are:

God Reaper STL (£5...approx. $6.65)
God Reaper vs. Cthulhu STL (£10...approx. $13.30)

Would have loved to have done physical miniatures for this but without a 500+ Print Run and a Fulfillment Partner that does stuff other than post books (like Drivethru) its just not feasible.

Unrelated, since I’ve seen so much of the F4 movie around, i was curious what DR Galactus (comic version) would be,

Well interestingly enough you might notice the Stretch Goals are:

£12,500, the Lady of...DR 8
£25,000, the Chained God Unleashed...DR 9
£50,000, the World Devourer ominously appears...DR 10

So in the very unlikely instance of the Kickstarter reaching £50,000 you may well see my version of something suspiciously like a certain movie villain.

and what DR (if any) would a herald be/gain. I assume a herald would work more as a template.

A Herald is basically an "Aspect" (which is itself 4 Divine Ranks lower than the Creating Immortal). The difference between a Herald and simply an Aspect is that the former adds Divinity to an Existing being, whereas an Aspect is created.

Galactus Divine Rank 10
Silver Surfer Divine Rank 6 (Herald).

Note that Skyfathers in Marvel/DC are more like Divine Rank 8 (than Divine Rank 6 in D&D )

That's the sort of graphic in the Reward tier windows. One for each of the 3 cover types and each combination.

Hey U_K! I was wondering, in terms of God Rules currency, how much would the Ruby Rod of Asmodeus/ the Crown of Karsus be worth? Also, what would some other theoretical Immortal artifacts be worth in terms of God Rules currency?

I can't wait to see the Kickstarter release!

Hey Arcanist amigo.

I was wondering, in terms of God Rules currency, how much would the Ruby Rod of Asmodeus/ the Crown of Karsus be worth?

Not sure I am familiar with the Crown of Karsus.

Most 'standard' artefacts (if any such item can be called standard) are approx. 1 Million GP in value.

I do have 4 'grades' within each tier of rarity. Though I would sort of need to build it to know the exact price.

Likely 1 M gp, 2 M gp, 3.5 M gp, or 6 M.

Beyond that are 4D artifacts. Starting at 10 million, etc.

Also, what would some other theoretical Immortal artifacts be worth in terms of God Rules currency?

As noted something like Thor's belt and gauntlets might be 1 million gp.

the wand of Orcus is a Soul Object, so likely grows in power with Orcus.

The Eye of Ra, Ark of the Covenant, probably 10 million.

Tesseract I think I have at 1 billion.

I can't wait to see the Kickstarter release!

Thanks for the support buddy. 8 days until the start. Not long now.

Before I answer this post, if Michele Beltramini is reading this, I don't seem to be able to reply to your email amigo. Not sure what the issue is. Just keeps failing to send.

I’m curious. Is the tesseract worth the same or less than its comic book counterpart? (The space gem/cosmic cube)

Well it's based on it, so from that perspective yes.

The Magic and Artifact Chapters are still not completely finished though so things may change.

Hey U_K! This is more of a silly question, but one of the players for my planned God Rules game wants to use a MGR-1 Honest John 20 kiloton nuclear rocket system retrofitted as a rocket launcher for their War/Mountain Purview Barbarian (yes, it's that kind of game :p), and before I decide one way or another what DR to give them the weapon, what Divine Rank range would the weapon be effective/balanced at, and how much/what type of damage would the weapon system do?

Stretch Goal.

I already have plans for the Stretch goals.

We will see how the Kickstarter does. I'll be able to do a better budget 'post mortem' after the Kickstarter so I don't make the same mistakes again.

Obviously I completely messed up my Art Budget for this project when I quadrupled the size and had to split it into 2 books (Player's Guide and Bestiary). Even taking that into consideration I have already commissioned and licensed probably 50 illustrations that won't show up until a 3rd or 4th book (So that is thousands of dollars to artists alone, not counting the 100+ on this project).

But even assuming you allocate 50% of the perceived Backer Profits to art, these books are tricky to budget for. Ideally you want 1 illustration per 4 pages for a rulebook (1 per 3 or better in a Bestiary). So that's 25 per 100 pages (33+ in a Bestiary).

So if you think the book will make 20,000 dollars, and budget 10,000 for art, that gets very stretched the more pages you have.

With 10k. Art budget
100 pages = average 400 per piece (25 illustrations)
200 pages = average 200 per piece (50 illustrations)
300 pages = average 133 per piece (75 illustrations)
400 pages = average 100 per piece (100 illustrations)
500 pages = average 80 per piece (125 illustrations)

...and that likely doesn't count the cover art.

Obviously if you know from past Kickstarters your book will do 50k or 100k it's not as big a problem. But not knowing the size of the audience makes it a guessing game.

You could of course take the art budget from the Kickstarter itself, then just set the release date 12+ months later and get the art commissioned with that money. Which is what I maybe should have done (in hindsight).

Of course you still need to get some art up front to showcase in the Kickstarter.

But of a learning experience this time though.

I'm wondering if the Epic Bestiary would be better sold as multiple 32-48 page chapters (which could be released every 6 weeks or so, rather than as another 480 page book in a year's time...?

1 kiloton (current build) does 150d6 (not counting the direct impact from the missile hit...those rules are also in the book).

1 megaton does 200d6.

So 20 KT. is probably 168d6. or so.

I think I have revised Kiloton Blast to a 15th level spell (although magic chapter still being worked on). So that would be a standard spell for Divine Rank 6 deities. Though you can cast it at Demigod tier by specialising...and even earlier by Overcasting (which has risks).

In terms of when it would be a good fit, as a 1 shot per day, it's fine at DR 4, At will use*, more like DR 7-8 though.

*As in the nuclear missile launcher reloads each round.

If each missile was a gun bullet and you could shoot multiple per round, maybe DR 9 ish.

But you will likely completely ignore Kiloton level damage in around DR 10 ish.
