Watched this last night, for free. I wasn't expecting much and that is exactly what I got. I don't understand the 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Even the critic's 76% is too high.

I haven't seen either of the Godzilla v. Kong movies yet. But I found the more recent Godzilla movies (2014 and 2019) to be extremely forgettable. I don't expect them to be Oscar material. It's just that there's nothing that seems special or particularly interesting about them. I couldn't even point you to something that's specifically bad about them (maybe that's the problem?).

I can't tell if the problem is that I'm jaded, or that too many movie special effects have had basically the same CGI aesthetic since ~2010.

We were underwhelmed by Godzilla vs. Kong, so my boys and I decided we'd sit this one out and wait for it to come out on DVD - then we can pick it up for cheaper than it would cost for the three of us to go see it at the theater.
Has anybody ever written a song about King Kong?
Well, he did get name-dropped in Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown."
