What did it for me was owning 2 different 6" blades. One is an actual knife, the other a scale replica of a sword in a Toledo (Spain) museum...

Some games and settings are still 3.0. Dragonstar, for instance.

Just parenthetically...the reason Dragonstar is still 3.0 is that FFG discontinued their support for the setting in mid-2004. When 3.5 came out, they discussed plans for a 3.5 update, but I think that sales were just never strong enough to justify it, and, instead, they cancelled the line.

I've found it really useful. As I said, I started (3e) with 3.5, but since coming across the 3.0 rules early on, decided to adopt some of them. Glad I did.
