Generally speaking, no.
But abandoning a friend is a good reason to ask "Is this guy really LG? NG? LN? N?"
Actions speak louder than words. Alignment is not a merit badge. It is a description that should be reasonably predictive of behavior under stress.
However, given that Roy regretted his mistake and proved that through action, and that the manner of his death, I think he has earned the benefit of the doubt.
For all that this is a "family quest", Roy seems more motivated by trying to do the right thing than his personal stake in the outcome.
