Going to GenCon Indy for the first time

I'm getting exciteder and exciteder!

Something I just thought of: In past years we did nametags at the ENnies booth but I'm fairly sure that that's not happening this year (maybe I missed it though). I'd strongly suggest that you fashion yourself a name tag of some sort with a prominent ENWorld logo, your username and your actual name (at least your first name) on it.

It'll help you meet people and it'll help people remember your name when you're gaming with them.

I've still got my 2007 name tag that has the ENW log, the ENnies logo and the CM logo on it along with my username and name. It's firmly attached to my badge holder along with various other "flair" including my True Dungeon badge, my Canadiana Suite pin and my TBR pin.

DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

I hadn't heard they weren't going to be available this year. I'd second Rel's suggestion that attendees that don't have an ENWorld name tag maybe try to make one. It makes it much easier to spot ENWorlders.

I think I've still got mine from both 06 and 08. They'll both be there on my lanyard.

Awesome idea - I'll see if I can get that sorted out.

Obviously in my case I don't need to put my username and my real name... :)

Another tip for you - when security at the airport you arrive in the US ask you why you've come here, tell them straight away that you're "going to Gencon, a convention for games like Dungeons and Dragons and boardgames". When I said that I was going "on vacation", the officer stared at me and said "Nobody visits Indianapolis on vacation. What are you really doing here?". :uhoh:

The EN World name tags were great. It really helped to spot people across the convention and even helped at EN World gatherings to quickly put screen name to face during conversation.

So this is a great suggestion. Make your own and make sure it was an EN World logo, the usernames and I would even suggest your avatar.

!

Blimey. I'll be clear. I've been out to the States several times, and was out there last year, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Thanks for all the help, everyone! Getting super-excited now! Particularly since I got in one of Piratecat's games. :)

Ah well, you'll be used to the "firm" questioning then. :)

You'll have a fantastic time. I really wish I'd been able to make it this year. Definitely aiming for next year.

One final warning - if you see either of these two men, run:

1. I don't get the Ennies booth comments. Does the Ennies provide a nametag service for ENWorlders?
2. I have tickets to get get rid of (AGoT D20 and Call of Cthulhu intro game). I would rather sell them online (at cost) than return them at Gen Con. Any ideas where to post them?
