Going to GenCon Indy for the first time

1. I don't get the Ennies booth comments. Does the Ennies provide a nametag service for ENWorlders?

In other years someone (I forget who) would start a thread in advance of GenCon and have people post their information for an EN World badge - usually your name and then they would make a badge with the EN World logo, your screen name, real name and avatar. They would print all of these up and you could pick them up at the EN World/ENnies booth when you got to GenCon.

There haven't been any name badge threads that I have seen this year, so Rel was just suggesting that people make their own to help make it easier to spot fellow EN World'ers at the convention.

I think Xath was the one who took the lead on this for a couple years at least. She's busy planning a wedding, working full time AND going to school right now so I'm cutting her some slack for taking the year off. ;)

Ah - yes! That was who used to do it. Yeah, I guess with schedule like that we can cut some slack for taking the year off! ;)

Also Xath is extremely cute so I'm inclined to cut her some slack regardless.

I'm weak like that.

Hey that reminds me, another GenCon tip for first timers: Meet Xath. She's all that and a bag of dice.

One other bit of advice: If you're staying at a hotel that isn't connected to the Convention Center by the skywalks, you may want to bring an umbrella. Recent weather has been unpredictable, with pop-up showers and thunderstorms ranging from possible to likely.

One final warning - if you see either of these two men, run:

I've MET one of those two men. Quite possibly one of us owes the other one a beer.

Just to keep the thread rolling...

I got myself a digital camera this week, and I'm going to be charging it up overnight. Hopefully will be able to get a bunch of GenCon pictures. I'm also thinking of wearing a hat whilst I'm there to make me easier to spot. :)

As promised, here is a pic of me!

Will also be a new avatar soon as I get the pic size sorted out.

You look nothing like I'd pictured you. I blame your avatar.

You're in color and everything!

Amazing modern technology - aka I bought a new camera. That previous pic was from about 2001!

I've updated my avatar but it's not showing up on my PC. Can you confirm if it's changed?
