I prefer watching almost any movie in any format alone, except for movies that I've already seen before in which case I still like to go call up my brother and get together for them. And schlocky films that I like to watch with my daughter because, unfortunately for her, she's inherited my weird sense of humor.

...But, don't tell her this, I'd still rather go see a movie in the theater all by my lonesome. I even prefer to go see movies in the theater at odd times so that I get them mostly to myself. One of the coolest movie moments I ever had was a midnight showing of Iron Giant where my brother and I (sitting far, far away from each other) had the entire stadium to ourselves. On the other hand, the crowded theater experience I had watching A Low Down Dirty Shame years ago for the first time was almost more entertaining than the movie.

I've only gone to a movie alone once in my life. I didn't like it much. The moviegoing experience is most enjoyable when you have others to enjoy it with.

I go on my own because there is just me. And I am used to it by now having done it for over 20 years. I mean why miss something you want to see because you can't get anyone else to see it with you.

I also didn't vote. When I was single, I had no problem with going to a movie alone. Now that I'm married, it's something my wife and I do together. Most of the time, we're on the same page on what movie to see, or we're at least tolerant of the other's choice, so going alone has not yet come up.
