Golem Gangs

In the MM and the SRD, for Organization under Golems, it has 'Solitary or gang (2-4)'. My question is, why would Golems be in gangs? They have no Intelligence and they are but creations of spellcasters.

Maybe a very powerful wizard makes several golems to perform various tasks that require some degree of cooperation.

And perhaps the collective noun for golems is 'gang.' Many things have odd collective nouns

Like an implausibility of gnus.

Mostly because society ignores them, and they have nothing else. So they end up hanging out in 7-Eleven parking lots with the other golems. These gangs often end up causing trouble, just for sheer lack of anything to do (lack of intelligence to think of something better to do).

(Slight spoiler warning if you are an UA player! ;))

That reminds me of the lost golems in Unknown Armies. Definitely more human-looking then your average D&D golem, they generally just wander around 'til someone tells them to do something, which they then attempt to do to the best of their abilities. "Hey, you, don't just stand there, get a job or something!" "Hi, hunk, come with me and have a good time."

...And then you have all those stereotypes they have to deal with: "Stone Golems are too slow to learn anything," "Iron Golems all have bad breath," "Flesh Golems are so much dead weight," etc. It's really tough to make in this world as a golem.

One positive force is the formation recently of the Young Golem's Union for Respect and Tolerance, or Yo.G.U.R.T. as it's known. Yo.G.U.R.T. has been trying to turn things around for Golems of all walks of life, finding them food and shelter, housing, Evil Wizards to serve for emplyment, etc. I'm glad to see it happening. Yo.G.U.R.T. is very good.

I believe "gang" is the incorrect term for 'a number of golems'.

The correct term should be "gaggle".

As in, a gaggle of golems.

You know, this was supposed to be a serious question...kind of. However, this thread is giving me some interesting and weird ideas about gangs of awakened (or w/e equiv.) golems running around. There would of course be the bad Golems that the people don't like and the troubled good Golems who are looked down upon by the people in the city because of what bad Golems are doing. Hm, perhaps some of the Iron Golems are becoming Disciples of Dispatar.

Maybe they have their own subculture and they are pretending to be stupid constructs to watch what others do. Perhaps their souls are 'summoned' in effect when the Golems are created and when they are destroyed, their souls return to their body in Golemland or something. Perhaps they are doing this because the Golems in the world are uniting to bring down those not of Golem origin.

Are these Geese Golems? So it would be a Gaggle of Geese Golems...
