Everything has a counter if you have the means and the power to do so. It's like saying wizards fail because they need a mouth while other classes don't need it (I'm talking about Silence, of course, but it just looks odd when I read it over). If Conjuration spells are the only thing a perfect SR needs to worry about, perhaps it's a good trade? Something I would like to look into at least. The Conjuration school tends to throw a wench in SR related plans.
The fact that something can be countered does not make everything nice and balanced. A wizard overcomes the need for a mouth with a relatively cheap magical item. Well, there's also the inability to be healed in combat or buffed without first spending time lowering your shields and then raising them, which could conceivably be a problem. If Conjuration spells are the only thing a perfect SR needs to worry about, perhaps it's a good trade? Except the Clay Golem, which requires Commune and Resurrection to create. But that's beside the point...
Golems are the defenders of the magic users. They have the ability to shrug off magic to ward off other potential magic threats (and the physical ones they can't handle). That's the way I've always saw it. If there's a more defined reason for it, I would like to know myself.![]()
The coming of Shothragot, which the gods prevent by placing a seal upon the world which makes Conjuration magic cease to function...well, at least calling, summoning, and teleportation spells. So it can only stop a bit I suppose. Then I suppose Anitmagic Field is go?The fact that something can be countered does not make everything nice and balanced. Good link! Read through it, though SR still amazes me a bit. As already stated, potions and spells used by the SRed individual still work on them, so not all forms of buffing/healing is gone (just those by other people, which is where the focus is).
