Goliaths

I rather like them. They don't really have a niche in my homebrew world, but I'd absolutely allow them in Greyhawk or Eberron (the published settings I'd GM). I'd even like to play one, sometime.

Oddly, the feral gargun fits a niche in my homebrew almost perfectly. I don't like the backstory, much, but they are statistically perfect for something I'd been struggling with for a couple of months, on and off.

Of all the new major races in "Races of..", I like the Goliaths the most. It seems a lot of people agree. Their damage output is very terrifying, however. If you allow a Goliath easy access to a large amount of Large weapons, they can dominate fights. The Goliath fighter/mountain barbarian I DMed for did just that. Of course, I allowed him to easily purchase Large weapons early on, so that was my fault. Still, he was played by a good role-player, which brought the race to life.

Yep. There's an analogous class in Races of the Wild, too.
Not really. The Ruathar (elf-friend or star-friend) doesn't let you qualify for elf-only effects, the way Stoneblessed does. And there's nothing like that for halflings, either. Which is a shame, these classes would open the Races of... books to other races.
